This week I got my copy of JMG's latest book The Secret of the Five Rites, and I've written up my thoughts on it here. The short version: like every JMG book, it's easy and enjoyable to read, informative, and covers a weird topic. What I was most pleasantly surprised by was how well it works as an introduction to what was going on in the occult "scene" in the late 19th and early 20th century. As always, I'd love to hear what you think.

I just read your review, thank you, very interesting. I own Kelder's little book and was wondering what JMG could possibly say about what amounts to a pamphlet, really. It sounds worth a read.

Thank you! I had some similar thoughts going into it, but I ended up enjoying the book quite a bit. Something I forgot to mention in the review is that the book also includes a discussion of how George W. Carey's interest in cell salts intersected with these traditions, and an appendix giving the "Carey Protocol" that JMG has shared on his dreamwidth, which reminded me I need to get back into that.
