Argh, I wish my Latin weren't so terribly rusty so I could join in your speculation better! It seems very likely to me that the intended translation is something like "Armed/Armored with/by Divine Help," with the instrumental dative, but provided the alternatives are viable (or perhaps even if they're not), that's both funny and interesting.
