Wow, that's a really good parallel with Aurelius - I don't think I had yet put him in a similar point on the decline as where we are, but it lines up pretty well (he was only a couple generations after the peak of the empire, and everything still looked pretty good, after all!). Definitely worth some "meditations" ;)
